For a number of years already the Jazzinstitut curates art and photo exhibitions in its own small gallery space. Most of these exhibitions touch upon a visual representation of jazz. We show photographs, paintings and other works of art depicting jazz musicians or the general subject of jazz and/or improvisation; we also show abstract paintings inspired by jazz. We are always especially thrilled to show works of art done by jazz musicians themselves. At the Jazzinstitut Darmstadt we managed a couple of times to combine an exhibition and a concert by musicians whose side instrument is a paintbrush.

Apart from our gallery exhibitions we also offer several traveling exhibitions on loan.
