Concerts take place regularly in the acoustically excellent vaulted cellar under the Jazzinstitut. Famous as well as lesser-known musicians perform here mostly on Fridays. Verein zur Förderung des zeitgenössischen Jazz  in Darmstadt e.V. (Abk. „Förderverein Jazz“) veranstaltet hier eigene Konzerte sowie jeweils am letzten Freitag des Monats die Bessunger Jam Session. Das Programm des Vereins wurde übrigens bereits fünf Mal mit dem Spielstättenprogrammpreis »APPLAUS – Auszeichnung der Programmplanung unabhängiger Spielstätten« der Bundesbeauftragten für Kultur und Medien prämiert (2016, 2018, 2019, 2022 und 2023).

Musicians from the Darmstadt area eventually rent the concert venue for events under own management, i.e. for music releases or the presentation of their latest shows. If you are interested in renting the venue, please write to jazz@jazzinstitut.de. In the gallery and the stairways of the Jazzinstitut itself, changing exhibitions can be hosted.
