Jazz letters from around the world

With the Jazz Letters the Jazz Institute Darmstadt launches a new section within its monthly newsletter. The idea: perspectives on the current situation of jazz and improvised music from different regions of the world — written by musicians, curators, journalists, or scholars on site.

The format is inspired by the column “Letter from …” on the platform nachtkritik.de, which regularly provides insights into the theater scenes of other countries. Our goal is to make voices visible that shape the international discourse on jazz — describing their own unique contexts, challenges, and dynamics.

The Jazz letters will appear in our newsletter (German / English) as well in full length on our website.
